Our Divisions
Treasury has four divisions, which have been structured to help achieve our Desired Outcomes. Each branch has an important role in contributing to the outcomes of their division, and of the whole Department, and every individual within a branch plays a part in ensuring that the branch, the division, and the Department achieve the best results.

The Budget and Finance Division is responsible for:
- preparing and monitoring the State Budget;
- monitoring the performance of government businesses;
- preparing advice on commercialisation, corporatisation and divestment policy;
- providing advice on maximising opportunities arising from the State’s telecommunications infrastructure, and facilitating National Electricity Market involvement for Tasmania;
- maintaining accounts and preparing financial statements for the Public Account;
- managing the Government’s owned and leased office accommodation portfolio;
- promoting procurement reform; and
- providing advice on policies and practices to improve financial management in the public sector.
Economic and Financial Policy Division
The primary role of this division is to undertake research into, and provide policy advice to the Government on, economic and financial issues, including intergovernmental financial relations and revenue-raising initiatives.
The division also provide resources to the Government Prices Oversight Commission and the Office of the Tasmanian Energy Regulator to enable them to carry out their statutory functions.
Revenue, Gaming and Licensing Division
The Revenue, Gaming and Licensing Division comprises staff who, although employees of the Department, undertake their work on behalf of certain statutory bodies and office-holders.
The division is responsible for:

- the collection of the major forms of state taxation on behalf of the Commissioner of State Revenue;
- supporting the activities of the Tasmanian Gaming Commission in ensuring that gaming activities regulated by the Gaming Control Act 1993 are carried out efficiently and with the highest degree of integrity; and
- providing resources to the Commissioner for Licensing and the Licensing Board of Tasmania to enable functions to be carried out as required by the Liquor Licensing Act 1990.
The Executive Director holds the statutory appointments of Commissioner of State Revenue and Commissioner for Licensing.
The Corporate Support Division provides support services to divisions and branches in our Department. These services include:
- information management and corporate communications, including internet and intranet site management, and library and records management;
- management and support of the Department’s information systems and information technology infrastructure;
- corporate financial management, including budgeting, accounting and asset management;
- administrative services such as facilities management and reception; and
- human resource management services, including recruitment
