On 30 June 2008 there were 332 employees at Treasury (316.15 full-time equivalents), with 41 being part-time. Permanent employees represented 89 per cent of our workforce, with the remaining 11 per cent being on fixed-term contracts (Table 2.1, Figure 2.1).
Over the past five years, the total number of people working at Treasury has varied only slightly, from a minimum of 324 people employed at 30 June 2004 to a maximum of 340 at 30 June 2007 (Table 2.2).
Over the last four years there has been a slight increase in the proportion of females employed at Treasury: from 49.3 per cent of full-time equivalents on 30 June 2005 to 51.9 per cent on 30 June 2008. On 30 June 2008 there were 179 females and 153 males employed by Treasury. Of the 41 who worked part time, 37 were female and four were male. There were 142 females and 149 males working full-time (Figure 2.2).
The average age of employees on 30 June 2008 was 39.5 (38 years for females and 41.4 years for males), with the most represented age group being 35-39 years (25 males and 39 females). Among the males, 31 per cent were aged 50 years or over, while 47 per cent were 39 years or under. Among women, 17 per cent were aged 50 years or over, while 59 per cent were 39 years or under (Figure 2.3).
Thirty-five per cent of our workforce is based in the Division of Revenue, Gaming and Licensing, 26 per cent in Budget and Finance and 18 per cent in Economic and Financial Policy. The employees based in Corporate Support Division and the Office of the Secretary who provide internal support services account for 21 per cent of Treasury's workforce (Figure 2.4).
