This Act provided for amendments to the Duties Act 2001 and the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 to implement taxation reform arrangements announced in the 2007–08 Budget. The Act reduced vehicle registration transfer duty for purchasers of heavy vehicles from three per cent of the dutiable value of the vehicle to one per cent and reduced motor tax for light vehicle owners by 21 per cent

This Act facilitated amendments to the Gaming Control Act 1993 to align taxation arrangements for sports betting under a Tasmanian Gaming Licence so that the same taxation rate applies, irrespective of whether the wager originated from Australia or overseas.
