On 30 June 2009 there were 343 employees at Treasury, with 47 being part-time (324.8 full-time equivalents). Permanent employees represented 87 per cent of our workforce, with the remaining 13 per cent being employed on fixed-term contracts.

Over the past five years, the total number of people working at Treasury has varied only slightly, from a minimum of 324 people employed at 30 June 2004 to a maximum of 343 at 30 June 2009.

There has been a slight trend towards an increase in the proportion of females employed at Treasury: from 49.4 per cent of full-time equivalents at 30 June 2005 to 53.3 per cent at 30 June 2009. On 30 June 2009 there were 190 females and 153 males employed by Treasury. Of the 47 who worked part-time, 44 were women and 3 were men. There were 146 females and 150 males working full-time.

The average age of employees on 30 June 2009 was 39.6 (38.2 years for females and 41.4 years for males), with the most represented age group being 35-39 years (21 males and 41 females). Among the males, 33 per cent were aged 50 years or over, while 46 per cent were 39 years or under. Among women, 17 per cent were aged 50 years or over, while 61 per cent were 39 years or under.


Thirty-five per cent of our workforce is based in the Division of Revenue, Gaming and Licensing, 26 per cent in Budget and Finance and 18 per cent in Economic and Financial Policy. The employees based in Corporate Support Division and the Office of the Secretary, who provide internal support services, account for 21 per cent of Treasury’s workforce.

Leave
At Treasury we consider employee health and well-being to be of utmost importance. In recognition of the benefits of an appropriate balance between work and personal commitments, employees are asked to use recreation leave accrued from one leave year within the following leave year.

During the past three years, as at 30 June there have been no employees whose recreation leave exceeded the statutory limits defined in Regulation 21 of the State Service Regulations 2001.
On 30 June 2009, there were 135 employees who had an average long service leave entitlement of 59.6 days. The total long-service leave entitlement balance was 8 038 days.
