|Treasury recruits graduates who have recently completed, or are about to complete, a University degree and are intending to undertake professional accounting qualifications. |
What is the Finance Graduate Program?
The Finance Graduate Program offers an excellent opportunity to work and gain experience whilst studying professional accounting qualifications. Graduates receive support for studies through time off to attend tutorials and examinations, and payment of professional accounting course fees. Graduates also have access to a mentor that has completed the same qualification, who can assist with any study issues, and provide support and guidance for the course of the program.
Whilst participating in the Finance Graduate Program, graduates are exposed to areas of economic and financial management and public policy. Graduates will be placed within Branches of the Budget and Finance Division for periods of up to 12 months, over a three-year period.
As graduates are expected to undertake studies to complete the Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) or the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (CA) postgraduate program, the degree must be a business degree that enables the applicant to complete either of these programs.
What will I be paid?
The salary range for graduates throughout the program ranges from $58 394 to $65 401 per annum (as at 1 Dec 2015). Progression is subject to satisfactory work performance and academic results. If your academic and work performance is satisfactory, following the completion of your graduate position, you’ll be offered a job with us at a level that currently pays $68 902 per annum (as at 1 Dec 2015).
Learning and development
In addition to their professional studies, graduates will be encouraged to participate in a range of learning and development opportunities including:
- in-house training courses and programs; and
- specialist training courses (eg computer software or finance systems).
