ICNTAS

There are Industry Capability Network (ICN) offices in all Australian and New Zealand capital cities, along with a number of regional offices. Each office is independently funded and managed. The objective of the Tasmanian ICN (ICNTAS) is to assist both government and industry to maximise opportunities for Tasmanian businesses.

Information for government buyers
It is a requirement that government departments contact ICNTAS in a timely manner for all purchases of goods and services over $50,000. ICNTAS can assist government departments with the following:

  • identification of local capability;
  • sourcing of technical information;
  • the organisation of industry briefings; and
  • the conduct of de-briefing sessions.

Government agencies are also required to contact the ICNTAS at the concept stage of all projects that are valued over $2 Million to consider the development of an Industry Participation Plan. This includes Building and Construction as well as goods and services.

Information for Tasmanian businesses
ICNTAS assists Tasmanian businesses by providing:
  • free assistance with tender preparation;
  • pre-tender notification where possible;
  • assistance to identify possible partnerships both locally and interstate; and
  • organised industry briefings.

Registration for Tasmanian Businesses
It is recommended that if you are a current supplier, or wish to be a supplier to the Tasmanian Government, that you register or update your company details with the ICNTAS. To register, follow the links on the ICNTAS website at: www.icntas.org.au.

BizTas: www.biztas.com

BizTas is a free service offered by the Tasmanian Government to help local businesses to succeed and become known locally, nationally and internationally.

BizTas enables Tasmanian businesses to register their services in a single Internet location, providing them with worldwide exposure via the Internet in six different languages. Each business manages its own record and any changes are instantly updated.

Information for government buyers
With its extensive search capabilities, BizTas can also be used by Government buyers to obtain information about local suppliers.

One of the key procurement objectives of the Tasmanian Government is to enhance opportunities for local businesses to do business with government. Government buyers should actively seek bids from local businesses, particularly those that have previously requested the opportunity to do so.

BizTas is the ideal tool for government buyers to search for local businesses that may be able to tender or provide quotations for Government contracts. BizTas includes extensive search functions, as well as detailed information on registered businesses, including product specifications, contact details, maps, import and export capabilities, and much more.
