Treasury Audit and Risk Management Committee
The Secretary of the Department of Treasury and Finance has established an Audit and Risk Management Committee, in accordance with the Financial Management Act 2016 and Treasurers Instruction FC-2 Internal Audit, and where appropriate drawn guidance from the Financial Management Better Practice Guidelines.
The Audit and Risk Management Committee is established to provide independent assurance to the Secretary of the Department of Treasury and Finance on the Departments' financial and performance reporting responsibilities, risk oversight and management systems of internal controls.
External member vacancies on the Committee
From time to time, the Department of Treasury and Finance seeks expressions of interest from members of the Tasmanian community interested in being considered for appointment to its Audit and Risk Management Committee.
These positions are advertised in the Saturday edition of the three local Tasmanian newspapers.
Treasury is currently recruiting for an Independent Member vacancy on the Committee, with expressions of interest closing on Monday 23 November 2020.

Applications are sought from Tasmanian residents who have knowledge and understanding of the role and functions of an audit and risk management committee and corporate governance in a public sector context.
The successful applicant's application will outline knowledge and experience in the following areas:
- accounting or related financial management experience with a sound understanding of accounting and auditing standards in the public sector environment;
- qualifications in either audit, business, accounting, law or public policy;
- experience as an audit and risk committee member for a similar organisation;
- knowledge and understanding of risk management, legal and regulatory compliance including government agency processes and legislation; and
- proven strategic thinking ability, analytical skills and sound judgement.
This position will commence on or after 1 January 2021, for a period of up to three years. The Independent Member is paid remuneration of $5,000 per annum and is reimbursed for any reasonable travel expenses, if required.
