"I like working at Treasury because it provides a

environment. "

I am currently working as a Graduate Financial Analyst on Treasury's Finance Graduate Program. This program provides an opportunity to graduates who want to develop and utilise accounting skills and supports you to complete a professional qualification like CPA or CAANZ. It has been very special working at Treasury and studying CPA at the same time.
I grew up in Nepal and moved to Sydney, Australia at the age of 18 to pursue a university degree and a fruitful career. My parents were very supportive of my decision to move to a new place far away from home. Sydney was a big city where life was busy and fast, but I learnt the meaning of hard work and it made me consider my priorities. In 2019, when I had finished my Bachelor of Professional Accounting degree, I moved to Tasmania.
I went on to complete a Diploma of Leadership and Management in 2020. I worked in many different areas throughout my time in Sydney and Tasmania - from busy kitchens and bars to the Royal Hobart Hospital in administration. I really wanted to progress my career and utilise my degree in accounting, so I was very happy to find that I had secured the job at Treasury and I commenced there in 2022. I have learnt that life will present you with many opportunities and you need to make sure to grab them while you can.
The role of a graduate depends on where you are working as you rotate between different areas of different branches. Currently, I am working in the Whole-of-Government Reporting Area of the Government Finance and Accounting Branch.
I have been very fortunate to work in this team which looks at data collection and reporting for the Whole of Government entities in Tasmania.
I like working at Treasury because it provides a diverse working environment, positive work culture and a generally supportive environment. Treasury provides training and development opportunities you can utilise to develop your career. I also like the fact that Treasury provides employees with flexible working arrangements.
Working in the public sector there is a sense of satisfaction that you are working towards the greater good of the public. I love the old Treasury Building and its heritage. I love showing people where I work.
When I am not working or studying, I like gardening and cooking. I like the calmness in gardening and watching the hard work pay off when you get to harvest the fruits, veggies and flowers. And I have always been a cook so I love creating something from scratch. My ideal vacation would be to go to on a long trip of Asia with my wife where we would enjoy different kinds of food and experiences. If I have a chance, I would love to do a multi-day trek to the base camp of the Annapurna Mountain next time I go to Nepal.
