Child sexual abuse is a deeply confronting issue. We encourage readers to prioritise their wellbeing when engaging with this content and to seek support if needed. A list of national and local support services is available on the Department of Justice website.
The Tasmanian Government is taking strong and coordinated action to protect children and young people from harm and to ensure they are heard in decisions that affect them.
The Department of Treasury and Finance (Treasury) acknowledges that safeguarding children and young people requires a collective, community-wide effort. We are committed to a culture of awareness and action where everyone takes responsibility, shares concerns, and speaks up when something doesn't feel right.
We will:
- equip our people to identify and promptly report any risks of harm they may encounter, whether during or outside the course of their duties;
- support initiatives that promote child and youth safety across government; and
- reflect on our practices and seek continuous improvement through a child and youth safety lens.
Together, we will contribute to a Tasmania where children and young people are safe, respected, and empowered.
