In October 2018, the Parliamentary Standing Committee of Public Accounts initiated a review of the 2016 Report. In examining the financial model in order to prepare information for the Committee, the Department of Treasury and Finance identified some inconsistencies in the structure of the model, which primarily related to the treatment of public sector superannuation costs. The conclusions of the 2016 Report would not have differed materially had these inconsistencies been identified at the time. While the findings and conclusions in the 2016 Report remain valid and relevant, the Secretary of Treasury and Finance intends to prepare a new fiscal sustainability report following the 2019-20 State Budget.
