Unclaimed money
Unclaimed moneys are funds that are due to a person, company or organisation that have not been received or claimed and, after a statutory period of time, become unclaimed.
The Minister for Finance is the holder of unclaimed money in Tasmania under the provisions of the Unclaimed Money Act 2015 (the Unclaimed Money Act).
Treasury accepts unclaimed money on behalf of the Minister for Finance and makes payments to the legal owners of the unclaimed money on receipt of appropriate proof of entitlement.

Please note that:
- Most types of claims require you to also provide proof of identification.
- You may need to provide additional information to prove your relationship to the funds.
- To claim unregistered ticket prizes such as Tattslotto tickets purchased in Tasmania, unregistered parimutuel and Sportsbet tickets and anonymous/unregistered Federal Reward Club Account funds, you must also submit the original ticket or membership card with your claim. No photocopies will be accepted.
Unclaimed money listings and Claim Forms
Treasury publishes eight listings of unclaimed money, by type of unclaimed money held and where the amount is $50 or more. These listings are updated on a quarterly basis and published in a searchable PDF format together with the appropriate claim forms below.
How to undertake a search:
- Open the respective listing.
- Use Control +F and type your details in the dialogue box that will pop up, then hit enter to commence searching. (Note due to the size of some listings, a search may take several minutes to complete.)
- You may need to use different permutations of your searching details, eg initials, rather than first name, last name and search for typical misspellings as the dataset may contain a misspelling eg Smyth versus Smith.
- If searching for specific initials, your search may need to include a space between each letter, e.g. search for F E Smith as opposed to FE Smith. Otherwise, the search result may display an inaccurate outcome.
- For unregistered funds, such as anonymous Federal Rewards Club Accounts, parimutuel or Sportsbet ticket prizes, the search only requires the membership card number or ticket number to be entered.
- To search for Tattslotto/Intralotto prizes, you will need to enter the ticket number, including spaces and any dashes. Not including spaces or dashes may result in incorrect search results. Ticket numbers entered incorrectly may display an inaccurate result.
If you believe that you are the legal owner of unclaimed money held by Treasury of less than $50, you are encouraged to submit a claim.
