A technician licence is required if you undertake certain duties which are prescribed by the Commission under the Act. These prescribed duties include installing, maintaining or repairing gaming equipment, or undertaking software and hardware testing or analysis for the purposes of gaming or a gaming business.
There are no changes to these licences and will continue to be issued and renewed.
Prescribed duties
The prescribed duties in relation to technicians are:
- install, maintain, modify, alter and repair gaming equipment, including computer hardware and software; or
- undertake the testing or analysis of software and hardware for the purposes of gaming or a gaming business.
If you are unsure whether the duties you undertake require a technician's licence, you may need to seek clarification with your employer.
How to apply
- obtain a digital colour passport style photograph. Consider the requirements of how a photo must be taken to be accepted. The photo can be taken with a smartphone or scanned to your electronic device and uploaded as part of the application in .jpeg, .jpg or .png file format.
- establish your identity. Accepted proof of identity documents must be uploaded as part of the application in .jpeg, .jpg, .png or .pdf file formats.
- complete the Special Employee's and Technician's Licence online application and upload the required documents.
- make payment with your Visa or MasterCard credit card via the online application.
