A minor gaming permit is not required to run very low value games of bingo, where a single entry fee is charged to play a session of bingo. The entry fee must not exceed $30 and any available prize must not exceed $300. Prizes can be cash or goods, and where the prizes are household goods, this game is known as "pingo".
Bingo or “pingo”, which is played predominantly for social purposes, subject to the following conditions:
- a single entry fee is charged for a session of bingo or “pingo”, which may include multiple rounds of games for which no additional amount may be charged;
- the entry fee charged per participant for a session of bingo or “pingo” does not exceed $30;
- the retail value of any available prize does not exceed $300;
- any proceeds of the game (after deduction for reasonably incurred operational costs, including reasonably incurred cost of prizes) are used for the lawful purposes of a not-for-profit organisation or charitable purpose and not for the private gain or benefit of any person except by way of charity;
- sufficient information is provided in advance to enable participants to reasonably understand the rules of the game; and
- sufficient records are retained to reasonably demonstrate compliance with these conditions.
