Locks and keys

​​​​​The venue operator is responsible for purchasing, maintaining, and managing the installation of new gaming machines locks and keys used in your venue.

You must ensure that you maintain and install gaming machine locks and keys in accordance with the requirements of the Commission's Gaming Equipment Security, Verification, Seal and Security Standards.  

Record keeping

It is a requirement of the Standards that you maintain a complete record of all locks and keys being used in your venue and a copy of these records must be produced when requested by an inspector.​

Replacing locks and keys

Existing gaming machine locks and keys installed on gaming machines used prior to 1 July 2023 may continue to be used in venues until they are replaced by the venue operator. Only a licensed technician is authorised to install or replace locks on a gaming machine processor door. 

For all other gaming machine and cash box doors, a venue operator is permitted to use the services of a locksmith.​
