Signage

​The following signs assist staff of licensed premises and their patrons to comply with relevant legislation and Responsible Service of Alcohol.​


Under the Liquor Licensing Act 1990 (the Act), licensees are required to display certain signage at their licensed premises.

Signs must be printed in colour on A4 paper and be at a sufficient quality to ensure information is clearly visible to the public.

Prove It! No Proof - No Purchase

This notice is important for patrons and staff as it sets out the acceptable forms of ID, so that staff can ensure that young people do not access alcohol.

Display this notice in restricted areas where young persons are allowed entry, but are no​​t allowed to purchase or consume alcohol.
Liquor sign - Fine Time

​Fine Time

This notice reminds staff and patrons that it is an offence to sell liquor to a person who is intoxicated and that the sale of liquor to, or purchase/consumption of liquor by, young people is illegal.

Display this notice in a prominent position in all bar areas.

This notice is important for staff and patrons as it sets out the acceptable forms of ID, so that staff can ensure that young people do not gain entry to prohibited areas.

Display this notice at the entrance to prohibited areas of licensed premises, particularly night clubs and late night venues, where young persons are not allowed to enter at any time.
Liquor sign - Restricted Area

​Restricted Area
A restricted area is one where young persons are allowed to enter, and remain in, as long as they are in the company of a responsible adult, or are there to have a meal.

This notice must be displayed if the Commissioner for Licensing has designated any part of a licensed premises as a restricted area.

Display this sign in a conspicuous position at each entrance to any part of the designated area.

Liquor sign - Prohibited Area

Prohibited Area

A prohibited area is an area where young persons under the age of 18 are not to enter under any circumstances or at any time.

This notice must be displayed if the Commissioner for Licensing has designated any part of licensed premises as a prohibited area.

Display this sign in a conspicuous position at each entrance to any part of the designated area.
