Responsible service alcohol course

A person may only serve liquor on a licensed premises if they have completed an approved Responsible Service Alcohol (RSA) course:
A newly employed person at a licensed premises must either have completed an approved RSA course or be enrolled/undertaking a course within 3 months of commencing employment.
Approved RSA courses for liquor licence holders
To ensure that those who have effective control for the sale and service and consumption of liquor at a licensed premises understand the Tasmanian laws in relation to the Liquor Licensing Act 1990, the Commissioner will recognise:
- RSA courses that deliver the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and are conducted by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) approved by the Commissioner to deliver courses in responsible serving of alcohol with Tasmanian content:
- SITHFAB021 (conditional on the training requiring evidence of performance through practical assessment of RSA skills);
- All previous versions (SITHFAB002, SITHFAB201, SITHFAB009A, THHBFB09A and THHBFB09B); and;
- Any future versions (subject to Liquor and Gaming Branch review)
Approved RSA courses for staff selling/service liquor
The Commissioner will recognise:
- RSA courses from any Australian jurisdiction that deliver the Australian Skills Quality (ASQA):
- SITHFAB021;
- All previous versions (SITHFAB002, SITHFAB201, SITHFAB009A, THHBFB09A and THHBFB09B); and
- Any future versions (subject to Liquor and Gaming Branch review); and
- RSA certification from any other Australian regulator.
